Capraia & Limite • Traditions by the banks of Arno |
|
Known since olden times as a river port of call, and linked to the life on the Arno, Capraia and Limite have for centuries been involved with the shipbuilding industry, as documented in Limite at the Exhibition Centre for Shipbuilding and Rowing, where you can find miniature models of boats, caulker’s and carpenter’s tools, and documents about the Rowers Association of Limite.
On the wooded slopes of Montalbano, beyond the built-up area of Capraia, you can see the remains of the wall of Barco Reale, a large area devoted by the Medici to a hunting reserve, between the 16th and the 17th centuries.
There is a also a vast network of trekking itineraries, ideal for lovers of walks and excursions.
